| The whole fact that memebers have to be manually accepted is probably what's keeping this forum empty. Honestly, I'd prefer a forum where I could quickly register and access safely. |

I think it is better with the activation email. But I know there used to be piles of random accounts spamming all over the forums. And that's really annoying for an admin to stay on top of. I don't think there would be much of a difference with amount of new users signing up. It just weeds out the ones that will only post once and never check back.
